Angelique's Maternity Photo Session

At 2:30 Oct. 2, 2010 I will be met up with Angelique for a maternity session at Confederation Park in Calgary. My props that I am brought along... baby blocks, pink finger paint and a pink ribbon!! The fall leaves are perfect right now... the sun was out in a blue bird sky and it was expected to be 22 degrees... but I swear it was much warmer! Couldn't ask for a more picture perfect fall day!

Christy Prior Interview

Christy was so kind to answer a few questions for me! Claiming 1st place in the Rail Jam at Norquay on Valentines day 2010 and putting on a great show! Planning on collecting a number of rider profiles, I think this one was a fantastic start! Thanks Christy! Good luck in the rest of your season!

Age: 21

# of years riding: 5

Sponsors:
Undergroundskate, Mountain Dew NZ, 686, Northwave, Drake, Bakoda, Skully Candy, Madwax, Helensville Fitness Centre

Board Length: 148

Stance Width: ...to tell you the truth, i have no idea and ill be dammed if there was a measuring tape in this house... but can asure you its O.G jib steez wide with angles 15,15 :)

Ride: Goofy:

Favorite Resort: So far from where my travels have taken me... Snowpark NZ, Treblecone NZ and Mayrhoffen Austria!!. But, definitely my favorite resort/town/people the whole package has got to be Banff, Canada!! So good!

Favorite song/s to listen to while riding: What is on your play list right
Now - quite the selection from.... Fleet Wood Mac - Edge of Seventeen right through to Whirlwind thru Cities by Afu-ra... so good.

# of day on snow this season (09/10): got about 50 days in New Zealand and just arrived in Banff on the 2nd of Feb. I had at least 10 days but with 3 months left here I have high intentions to demolish that number!! :)

Favorite Trick: Half cab nose press nollie back 180 out!

Hardest Trick to learn: Hard way back 180 onto street rail....

Favorite Snowboarding Video: Black Winter

3 things people should know about you:

1. I am a sucker for sushi or any Japaneses!!

2. Snaped my ankle 3 years ago on a 70 foot booter and got the fear - hense
why I'm a jiber!! But getting back into now - an I'm addicted!!

3. I contradict my self as I am aware and aim for a healthy lifestyle
looking after my body, eating, exercise etc... but at the same time if
partying was a profession - I would have my PHD!!

3 things people don't know about you:

1. i am organized!!.... i swear?....

BFIw_0138

2. I was actually born in England... and only a permanent resident in
NZ?.... (moved to nz at 18months old) one day I'll apply for my
citizenship.... :)

3. I can't spell to save myself!!

Where I find my inspiration:
Riding with crew is always inspiring, the Rudeboys throw down ALWAYS and im constantly observing/stealing there tricks, technique and style.
then theres BSA represent!! and from my home town our Underground Skate
crew-best team trips ever!

Person I look up to: all of the above...

What I would do if I had more time:

Go study fashion design and marketing at school - I really want to create my own clothing label - at the moment all my time is spent snowboarding and all my spare time im working my arse off to have enough money TO snowboard... so for now, when my body gives up on me - that is the day ill go back to school!!!

3 things I never ride without:

1. my ipod(beleive it or not complete with head phones)
2. lunch on the go (crushed up Musli bar in my pocket!!)
3. My helemet. - cool kids wear lids!!

Snowboarding road trip! Where I would go:

You mean where would I start!!! mmm, seriously - any road trip where
friends, snow and new places are I'd be there with bells on. But.. I'd
definitely give my little jib stick the ride of its life and hit the
powder highway around BC (British Columbia) CANADA!!

I wish people would take more notice of:

Snowboarding in general - say for example, rugby players back home earn some big money even as reserves or even in lower teams. If snowboarding had that much exposure, I wouldn't be living on the floor in my mates storage room right now! haha... but, we love it!

Ideal night out:

Some casual beverages with the crew turning into some not so casual beverages..... ONNNN!!! Oh and every Tuesday for Riders Night at Hoodoo's, always a dangerous commitment to make!!

Ideal night in:

After a sick day shredding and an awesome hot shower, my flat mate Guilaume bringing home from work bucket loads of chocolate from the Fudge Factory and just sinking into the couch for the night, with no peer pressure text's or phone calls saying come party!!... hahah

A common misconception of me:
If I say im going to do, I'll do it!

Phrases I use too often:
Sweet as.... aye. Ha HA
Seals the Deal - I'm definitely from Kiwi land!!

How I get motivated:

Of course a quick glimpse at a snowboard DVD always gets my stoak level up but...putting on a banging play list works every time!

Favorite gadgets:
I would be lost without my computer... and my to do lists!

Words to live by:
eat, ride, sleep, repeat.

But on deeper level.... Go confidently in the direction of your
dreams. Live the life you imagined.
Which brings me back to my first quote..... eat, ride, sleep, repeat!! ohhh, I love my life!! :)

Over and out!

Billabong Flaunt It, Mt. Norquay 2010

I was wide awake at 5am, so excited about meeting up with Kat and getting out to Mt. Norquay for Billabong Flaunt It. I went over my list from the night before and only forgot my interview list that I meant to grab! It was the most amazing day (yes again.. but even better!!) Starbucks was sadly not open yet so I picked up Tim Hortons on the way. Starbucks is a real treat... Tim Hortons is great though.. its not like it really comes in second! So we had no morning grumpies on the way!

Kat and I talked so much the whole way to Mt. Norquay we didn't even notice that never even bothered to turn any music on! We have so much in common that its almost scary!

When we arrived at Mt. Norquay we scoped everything out. The sun was shining brightly and it looked like it was going to be the perfect day for photos! Kat was thinking about competing but then figured she just wanted to shoot! So between the 2 of us we got a ton of photos! After the first hike up the slope to check things out we went back to the car to shed some clothing, it was only 9am and it was hot! Sure we layer up pretty good cause you never know what the weather is going to be like in the mountains... but this was really warm. The entire day I managed with just a sweater and down vest and my snowboard pants... I hardly even pulled out my mittens and even got a sunburn! Funny I didn't think to pack sunscreen... though i know you can get a wicked burn/tan being on the slopes... i had just never experienced it!

Kat was amazing when it was time to talk to the snowboarders and staff. I suck at getting the word out about where they can find the photos. But now we have made so many people happy with getting them access to photos of them! I am so thrilled!

We must have hiked that slope 6 or more times, cause today i am just a little stiff... and last night i couldn't even force myself to get through my photos... i ended up going to bed at about 8:30 i was so beat! but I haven't really stopped working on all this Billabong stuff since i started at 5am on Saturday morning, and i am loving every minute of it. I got though all my photos, editing them and sending out requests to riders that have so far contacted me. I sent out the email to Billabong as they wanted to see the photos. I have posted them all on flickr and I am now just taking a short break from posting them on facebook... which i am re-vamping my Macmillen Photography photo page. I still have much work to do with that!

Soon I will be sending out an interview email to Christy Prior (another thing I worked on) that she so kindly accepted in doing! Wow... I feel like the brianstorming with this just isn't stopping... but in a way I don't want it too! So far all the feedback has been great and I am still so pumped about all of this!!

So a little about what Billabong Flaunt It is all about... its an all girl ram and slopestyle jam... no boys allowed! Everything was pink, including my burnt face at the end of the day! Girls of all ages got in as many runs as they could to get as many points as they could in an allotted amount of time. We even had two 11 year olds who fair very well one winning the "best trick" award!

As always you can view all the Photos here: Billabong Flaunt It Mt. Norquay 2010

All in all it was a great day! Can't wait for the next event!

Billabong Flaunt IT! *fingers crossed*

I am really really REALLY hoping that we can score the Media passes for this event. And when I get word of that I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that Jamie Anderson is there!! I will have to get some questions ready if so, so I can interview her! *squeal* To bad Victoria Jealous doesn't do this kinda thing... (I could be wrong...) but I would be SOOOO excited to meet her too!

Keep your fingers crossed for me and Kat!

Burton Canadian Open... whee!!

I rocked the photos at the halfpipe if I do say so myself... and I got the chance to not only photography some of our Canadian Olymipic Atheletes but, as the announce described him "The Legend" Antti Autti... that man could FLY!!!!!!! The Halfpipe on Saturday was amazing... beautiful blue sunny skies... I was so excited to shoot! The Slopestyle on Sunday was challenging and COOOOOOLLLLDDD!!! And I got in trouble cause I was in the "Super Photo" section and didn't know it. Oh well... at least I rocked off a few photos before they told me I could only stay for one more rider!

I swear I have never been on the hill when we were having so many kinds of weather all at once. Wind, Fog, Snow, and damp cold temperature... but for the most part I braved it out... though I did quit before the end... It was really a lot to take!

The great thing is the people I met on Sunday, Nick and I talked shop about TV while the riders were practicing...He was cool. And Kat was just the best to meet up with. I look forward to shooting and riding with her. It was fun to talk photography and snowboarding and how to shoot them. I think we could make a great team! Anywho, as always check all the photos on my flickr site but here are a few to tease you with!!!

LG Snowboarding World Cup...

So when i got there it took me a while but i finally found where to pick up my Media pass. It is not unlike the one I use to have when I worked for the NHL, I was pretty impressed. Mind you i did not realize how big this event was until I got there! :) Silly me. Here I was thinking that it would be the same sad turn out for these amazing athletes... perhaps a few spectators and one or tow photo-togs besides me... not the case. Tv Coverage, giant tv screens, hundreds of spectators and photo-togs galore! There was a special Media center with swag (yah free stuff) and food. It almost made me miss working in TV. I was back in the Media world... it felt really... Normal, but with a twist. You see MY Media tag... sure it stated my name... but it did not say I was working for some company... it said "Macmillen Photography" I was so excited... it was all me! ME ME ME! No working for the man here! HAHA... I wanted to drive home and show it to G i was so proud!

It was just an amazing feeling!

Once I got up to the Halfpipe (I swear if i just hiked up that thing once a day I would be in AMAZING shape! Its the worst climb... I never go more then half way up! lol) I was so glad I had aquired a Media Pass. I had access to the halfpipe with no fence in front of me... as one side was for Media only and the other for viewers.

So standing on the very edge of a 22 foot drop (pretty much straight down too...) I stood. I took my position and only backed up every now and then when a snowboarder was about to do a trick right in my face! It is so amazing to be RIGHT THERE! I could have touched them, but that would be dangerous... so I would not ever do that. :)

So all the pics are now up on Flickr:

So please go check them out! Thanks!
